This bronze medal is by Jean Augis. The obverse depicts a naked heavily muscled man pulling a large flywheel with other flywheels behind. It is signed "Jean A Augis" with the initials "F.I.M.T.M". The reverse is stamped "Federation des Industries Mecaniques et Transformatrices des Metaux MDCCCXXXIX" and is inscribed "Andre Onimus". The rim is stamped "Bronze". The medal is presented in a round cardboard box.

Jean Augis (1910-1994)
From a family of silversmiths with a family business established in 1830.
Attended the Beaux-Arts in Lyons before working with his brother in the family business.
He designed jewellery in silver and gold and later due to the World War restrictions in pewter brass aluminum and bronze. Exhibited in The Salon des Arts Decoratifs in Paris.
